Community Projects - June Update

Here are some exciting new updates from this past month!

A new kitchen at Flamingo Comprehensive School

MHI partnered with Flamingo Comprehensive School this month on the construction of a new school kitchen — a project shared with other partners and supporters who came alongside. MHI's contribution included two energy-saving institutional jikos (150- and 100-liter capacity) to make meal preparation faster, cleaner, and more sustainable for the students. This is the kind of work that doesn't make headlines but feeds children every day.

Students stepping into their gifts

At Kabati Primary School, students were given a platform to showcase their talents — and they rose to it. Several went on to represent their schools in competitions and won. A few weeks later, the team was at Mahindu Primary School in Nyandarua, where students performed a skit on charity and kindness, learned a new song together, and one young student used her moment on the platform to speak about technology — how it can serve us or distract us from the people right in front of us. These aren't performances. They're moments of formation.

Sanitary support at Mahindu

During the Mahindu visit, the team also distributed sanitary towels to the girls. Parents have been reaching out with appreciation for this program. The impact is being felt at home.

Poultry at Hope Children's Home

The Hope Children's Home now has over 40 birds in its poultry program — a food source and a hands-on life-skills opportunity for the children in our care, who also continue to receive mentorship, counseling, and academic support.

MHI at Proclaim

We had a booth at the Proclaim conference this month — an opportunity to share the work with a wider audience. More to come as those connections develop.
